The Sun Never Sets includes three separate games. Each game simulates one of the major wars fought by the British to expand their Empire in the 19th century. Players can march to the far flung frontiers
of British civilization, engage vast hordes of "natives" and plant the British flag in Khartoum, Peking and Ulundi!
March to Peking In 1860 Britain and France dispatched an expeditionary force to China to force the Manchu emperor to
agree to European demands for open trade. The Chinese resisted valiantly, but poor weapons and even poorer leadership doomed their efforts. Special rules allow for the veteran Chinese Hunan army (engaged fighting the Taiping rebels
elsewhere) to march to Peking's relief.
Zulu War In 1879, the Zulus were one of the strongest independent African
kingdoms confronting the British in Africa. The British decided to invade Zululand and resolve matters permanently. The invasion force quickly ran into problems as
the Zulus destroyed one British contingent at Isandhlwana; only a heroic stand at Rorke's Drift salvaged the situation.
The Sudan In the 1880's, Mohammed Ahmed--known as Mahdi--claimed divine
guidance and raised a revolt against the corrupt Egyptian rule in the Sudan. The Mahdi and his followers quickly swept over the demoralized Egyptian garrisons, threatening British interest from Suez to the Red Sea.
In 1896, the British decided to reconquer the Sudan, dispatching an Anglo
-Egyptian army under General Horatio Kitchener. Kitchener methodically advanced down the Nile and finally confronted the Mahdist near their capital of Omdurman. There was fought one of the epic battles of the 19th century Africa.
